So car in for a Phase 4 software update and was advised that Phase 5 is now available but there has been trouble loading the software and stability issues. So naturally staying with Phase 5 as experience has taught me there is NO first mover advantage with JLR.

Anyone experience Phase 5 yet?
Do you have release notes you can PM me with what exactly is on offer?

I would be very keen on any input. Thank you.

That's not unique to I-PACE... they all ship like that now.
They are all capable of receiving over the air updates, but JLR haven't implemented it yet. That applies to the iPace as well, I was wrong when I stated earlier that they can receive them.
I may have said before, I won't be an early adopter when they do turn it on!
Don't worry you won't be an early adopter. I've had about 20 already ;)

Do you mind if I ask which dealer did this for you? And did you have to pay to get the Car play installed?
I still have the Phase 3 on my car and In controls Apps keep glitching. So I contacted my local dealer (Barnet, North London) and they tell me that the will put the Phase 4 update for me. I asked about Phase 5 and they don't seem to be aware of Phase 5.
They also tell me the Apple Car Play is also available but it is a chargeable upgrade!

Ive had ACP update at no charge when I took my new velar in for a rattle on a speaker. the service technician noticed straight away it wasn't the latest software and said they would do the update when they looked at the speaker . Ironically they couldn't find a rattle , upgraded to 18D software hand the rattle has gone !!!! Still got a very random but noticeable cracking noise when playing audio via Bluetooth our USB cable . I'm hoping there is a fix for this on the way as besides this my car is awesome . ( Stafford Land Rover is where I had the work done although it was purchased from Stratstone Stoke )

I was upgraded from 18C to 18D as the inContriol was totally unusable, and they installed ACP free.
Upon testing the new software while the salesman was standing there, InControl was as bad as before, but ACP worked a treat. The salesman apologized and said I would have to wait for Phase 5 to hopefully fix InControl.

After a few weeks of using ACP, I don't care if InControl ever works, as I much prefer the increased functionality, though the graphics are a bit loud.

If your dealer can't get InConrol to work properly (which I doubt they will) just insist that they activate ACP free, as that's what every other dealer seems to be doing. You are entitled to have all the features on your car work without fault.

Forgive me for probably asking something that's been repeated several times. I have what I assume is 'phase 5' With CarPlay, but my software says 18C. Is their another newer version? I see people mentioning 18D. My last update finally addressed the connectivity issues...Bluetooth, usb, carplay all work...but the system itself is much less stable than it was previously. Both the lower and upper screen sometimes don't turn on for a couple minutes after startup, when they do turn on they're much laggier than they used to be (they used to be fast). I'm also getting weird glitches like the a/c setting itself to low instead of remembering my settings, the ambient lighting changing colors on its own, etc. These issues have all been documented here plenty of times, but I never experienced them frequently until this 18C w/ Carplay update. Hoping there's another that has solved this.

After last service software update I think I have Phase 5, BUT

As You can see on the picture below when I go to all settings -> software update at the bottom -> I have only ONE software: infotainment system version InControl Touch Pro: S18D_18.47.5-269316

Font Communication Device Display device Multimedia Gadget

My friend and few of You gays have TWO software version information as below picture:
one is infotainment system version
and second one is car software version, that I do not have

Gadget Font Audio equipment Multimedia Computer

Can You tell me why is that? one car have only infotainment system and another have 2 system version listed?

I will add that I ask my dealer to get Smartfone pack with Appel car Play but they told me that they tried but could not install it, even that my friend who have the same car from MY18 had it installed

Got my car back today after the 18D update! Super happy, ACP and AA installed. And free of charge!
First impressions: ACP working really well. Tried Spotify, Google maps and Waze and all worked well.
They also did some firmware update for the lower screen and graphics are slightly different from before. Looks cool. Loving it!

I'm still trying to getting mine booked in, my own dealer denies all knowledge of ACP and still waiting on a reply from the dealership in Edinburgh

I have a January 2018 Rangerover sport with the same Velar Touchscreen.
Obviously Apple car play wasnt available when I purchased the car from New.
In November the car went in for some warranty work on locks and had a software update to correct an occasional glitch where the radio wouldnt 'boot'.

The other day ( January 2019) My Iphone was nearly flat and I had to plug it in via a USB lead to the centre console to add some charge.
You can imagine my surprise when the option to link to apple car play came up on screen!
I clicked on the link and all connected and works fine.
Music playback on spotify is crackly on an aftermarket USB/Lighting lead but works fine on the genuine Apple lead.

So if you havent got it on a 2018 early model - get down to your dealer!

I was driving around happily enjoying ACP. However, I had a little surprise. I was using waze for navigation and listening to my Spotify playlist on ACP. when suddenly the system did freeze and decided to reboot itself while I was driving!!! Both screens went off, the top screen went backing from the tilt position and then started back again with LR logo all whilst I was driving!!! Not sure what the hell happened. Very strange indeed. And then started working again! I drove about 15 miles after this without any issues!
Anyone had similar issues?
(The software version I have is S18D_18.47.5-269316)

Well I've finally managed to get booked in next month to have the new update at, another dealer, but I've been told I will be charged for Apple CarPlay which I politely declined, I ain't paying for something others owners have had for free, and I'm of the opinion that if incontrol was up to a reasonable standard I wouldn't need ACP.

Though what they did say was they are waiting on JLR to confirm the update.

So I had 18D installed just over a week ago and they put Apple Car Play on there for me for free too. I do, however, have a couple of major problems. Firstly there is no voice directions for the inbuilt navigation anymore. I have turned the mute on and off and no sound at all. Second is the bluetooth isn't working in the car anymore. I can connect on the Bluetooth main page and it, and the phone, says they are connected but the phone doesn't appear on the music streaming page and when you go to the phone page and touch the iPhone that is listed it just says connecting which goes on forever. ACP appears to work fine but I don't always want to have to hardwire my iPhone in for short journeys. Anyone else experience this?

I think ACP overrides Bluetooth so you only use ACP when you connect via the cable. If you want to use Bluetooth you can still do (by not connecting the cable) but you can't use both.

Similarly, you can't use the inbuilt phone only Apple Carplay phone access.

On balance, I choose to use ACP so always connect the cable and now with 18d it fires up quickly.

My two gripes are one, you can only use the ACP phone once you go into ACP. You can't for example, use the phone controls on the steering wheel to make a call or the touch pad on the lower screen. Mind you, ACP always asks you who you want to call so you can use Siri pretty well to control the phone.

Same with test messages or WhatsApp.

Second gripe is that getting from ACP to the home screen or ICTP sat Nav screen takes too many touch controls as when ACP takes over you lose the horizontal menu bar at the bottom of the centre screen. Not very user friendly to have to touch the Landrover app icon in ACP, then have to press the Sat Nav screen and then vice versa if you wanted to get back to Spotify for example.

ACP should work but ICTP should ideally still show the menu bar under it.

Don't know about voice not working on the ICTP sat Nav. Will have to check,

Have had the same problem with JLR mapping loosing its voice.

Service told me to update my maps which I did but still made no difference.

Car is going in tomorrow for it's service so will get them to check again.

I tend to use Waze now having spent time playing with it I quite like it and as I've my phone in a cradle next to the ICTP screens so use the phone screen was Waze alerts.

Yep my Bluetooth doesn't work properly when the phone isn't wired in for ACP. So, for example, I just get in the car and drive without connecting anything there is no bluetooth streaming or phone features available despite the phone and car saying the Bluetooth is connected.

I've been told if I want it as part of the new update I have to pay.

Question to those that have it.

Is it worth having for £243?
My opinion after getting ACP and AA and trying AA (I don't have or want an iPhone) is that it works but I can't see any advantages over ICTP. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S8, and it does what I need just connected via Bluetooth, i.e. phone calls, voice calling, reads texts out. I have not used AA after giving it a short trial and unless it suddenly offers something new and exceptional I probably won't.

For music and entertainment I use the radio or my personal music recorded on memory stick, recorded as FLAC directly off CD to give good quality reproduction (or at least as good as I can get with minimal effort).

If I want to confirm SatNav routing I use TomTom but 90+% of the time the built in SatNav and TomTom agree on the best route and traffic diversions, though a year to 18 months ago I used TomTom and then adjusted the ICTP SatNav in my F-Pace to match the TomTom. :D

I can't say what benefits, if any, ACP brings over ICTP, but from an Android perspective I wouldn't pay for it.

I personally don't like the map interface of the LR map offering. Poor graphics and the map is smaller because of the bottom menu. Where as Google Maps with ACP is stunning. Also the map fills the whole screen. You can't compare it to the satellite view of the LR satnav! Audio playback quality through ACP is so much better than via Bluetooth too.

I'd probably pay for it if I didn't have it, but I would certainly do all I could to get it FOC if I was experiencing issues with the current software.

If I'm honest I wasn't too fussed about getting ACP as I wasn't a fan of it in my 2018 Ford Kuga. When I had it fitted I didn't bother with it at first but i was getting increasingly frustrated with the inconsistencies of Bluetooth audio and trying to play music through hardwire.( probably something I was doing wrong )...sometimes it just wouldn't play music although the display said otherwise. So i set ACP to autostart and I'm now a convert. It fires up straight away, Siri is 100 per cent accurate, all of my music is now playing , I can switch back to LR home screen which i prefer. If I'm honest I haven't checked if LR navigation has lost her voice but I'll find out on Wednesday when i'll need it for a trip. I've even started using it in the Kuga now !!!

I suppose these things are a matter of trial and error. ( But it;s on permanent trial for me now )

Cheers guys.

I'm trying to get it included with the update as everyone else seem to have got it FOC.

Dealer says no, LR customer services says no. My own dealer doesn't know anything about the update so I'm booked in with another, perhaps if it was my own dealer I'd probably have it installed FOC.
