I've just read https://news.theceomagazine.com/technology/jaguar-land-rover-apple-carplay/

Anybody tried this yet?

I just bought a 68 plate car and had asked for CarPlay to be installed which obviously the dealer want o charge for. When I saw the car it had the 19b update already installed an I discovered CarPlay was already there. It appear InControl apps have no future now so JLR provide CarPlay for free.

Interesting.
Does this apply to those who dont have inControl, Wifi, etc?
There are many in this situation... and we could have Apple Car because of this...
But now that inControl is going to disappear, it is a different story.
Thanks
I've sent it to the dealership, and I think I will whine until they decide to make an update since the whole "we say one thing on the website, but doesn't apply to your 120k car" drives me nuts. That and the brakes, but I will find away to change the latter.

Kind regards,
Nikolai

Absolutely. They've discontinued InControl support so they've made AA & ACP free with 19B. I don't have a SIM or WiFi with my car, that's why I just booked it in for a software update. Told them I wanted the 19B specifically for ACP and they didn't complain.

Funny, because a few months ago, they were asking 3000kr (£250'ish) for the Smartphone pack.

Are you in Stockholm? Which dealership did you go to (I want to do the same)?
Hoping they can do it OTA though.

Do you have wifi and sim slot in your card? Do you have inControl Apps?

If not, I dont think you will be able to get it via OTA. I have the same issue. :(

Yes, I have both, however, I have asked them to enable SOTA before (which they confirmed) but I don't receive any updates.
I had to explain to the technician what it was though, so I am not surprised...

I checked last night and the new update and downloaded and ACP has been installed.. I plugged in my iPhone and its not connecting, it still directs me to the old app screen. any suggestions.
thanks
In settings on the main touch screen go to Connectivity (I think I'm on a train so cant look) and scroll to bottom for Apple device settings. You can choose the default behaviour and select ACP.

Sure am, I went to British Motor Group South in Segeltorp. Ask for Ferhat, he makes such a huge effort to ensure you're happy.

I will do that, since I have quite the opposite experience from BMG in Danderyd.

Thanks a lot!

Does anyone else get the disconnect from usb notice when trying to load apple car play.
I have replied to this question so many times on this forum…..

This is an Apple issue, there is a feature from IOS12 onwards called RESTRICTED USB, Google it and it will resolve your issue
If you call USB security an issue then yes you are correct. It's a safety feature. Not an 'issue' ;)

You don't need to go to the dealer for the update, mine updated itself OTA on it's own a couple of days ago, I only realised today when I noticed the audio and aircon settings had reverted to the defaults. Yes Apple and Android came with the update so it was just a question of pressing a few buttons to make Car Play the default instead of the dreaded JLR crap app.
