Very hard to comment from looking at the picture - presume it was a contract black roof trim that is beginning to fade/grey?
In this case, do not have the problem at all.

Presume it is just
[1] very heavily scratched from washing which has taken the gloss off, or much more likely;
[2] some kind of solvent or intensive tar cleaner used by a hand car wash place that has reacted with the plastics and causing them to cloud/fade

Is the trim a bit rougher to touch (compared to other plastic trims) - it is probably [2].

A detailer *may* be able to sand polish some of the clouding but it wont go away entirely.
You're probably looking at a refit/respray - and then do wrap it with a PPE film (clear, gloss) that many of us have done.

Sorry, mate. Not a manufacturing thing - certainly not with mine

I only wash with Autoglym products ! which i think would not cause this.

Car as been sat in direct sun-light over the last few weeks, which makes me think the sun as possibly bleached these parts.

Its only the two corner trim parts the rest of the plastic trims are fine. I'll see what the dealer thinks to it next week !

Mention to my dealer, but they didn't want to know !!

In the end I tried polishing them which did help a little.

Just picked my car up from service, spoiler trims different colour and where door mirrors attach to car, mirrors are fine, dealer said JLR. Won't change them, also said jags chrome trims are giving problems and have stopped replacing them also under warranty as well as brake discs and other items they had previously been replacing, said they had had few bulletins lately on things they could not change under warranty?? 😬 ask me to take photos to show fading in light conditions which it stands out most, and will try again,

Mine is being replaced tomorrow. Service manager said it was from the packing they use when the vehicle ships, all covered under warranty.
UK here - I was assured by the dealer this would be covered under warranty when the warranty ppl at LR are back in. I was told as above that it's from the tape they fit when shipping. On the other side there is a clear square demarcation from the tape.

Same issue for me
Replaced under warranty?

Bodyshop Manager said he'd seen something similar once before but not on a Velar, he assumed it was a reaction with UV light but agreed that it should not have faded in just under two years. The corners cannot be replaced on their own and a complete new rear spoiler is being fitted as well as a replacement 'shark' fin antenna which is similarly fading, all under warranty.

I haven't taken mine to the dealer yet. Waiting for them to start offering courtesy cars before I take mine in (got a long list of issues for them to look at). However, I will be taking it in at the end of the month for a one day fix on the rear tail light. Full of water and indicator isn't working properly 🙄

Took mine to my local JLR dealer and they are replacing the whole boot spoiler as its all one unit and the sharks fin antenna due to this type of discolouration.

Hudson479 yes I will post a scanned picture of the service order once I get my Velar back from the dealership.

This is also effecting my D5, which arrived at the dealership from the factory with faded mirrors. Dealer changing them, but it will reappear I'm sure.
