Re: CarPlay and iOS14

My wife is on a long road trip in the Velar and was having problems, so I reminded her of my chicken dance for keeping CarPlay happy ... First, do not plug in the phone until inControl has finished booting up, i.e., you can see the home screen. I think her problem was related to keeping the phone pl...

Re: Advice on cleaning door edges

I find that Klasse All In One is really good at keeping the piano black bits clean. With a coating of Klasse, a quick rub down with a microfiber towel shines those parts right back up and they resist smudges longer.

Re: High Aluminium in Engine Oil

First of all, it's generally not advised to get overly concerned about one analysis unless the numbers are really off. You are looking for trends in OCIs. Aluminum can come from wear (bearings), high heat (pistons) or as part of dirt ingested by the engine which is often a mixture of silicon oxide a...

Re: Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch

This was the only hitch that I considered as it was adequate for our needs and completely hidden and inexpensive and non-invasive (if not simple) to install. The hitch may be rated for 6000 lbs, but with only four bolts per side into an aluminum frame, I wold not take it that far. There are addition...

Re: Velar SVA or RRS PHEV or Tesla

Or do what I did and keep the Velar but get an I Pace for around town or short trips. There's no accounting for taste, but after getting accustomed to my wife's Velar, I could not do any Tesla. The interiors and general fit/finish just don't compare in my opinion. Teslas are great in a straight line...

Re: Few questions about the Velar before purchase

Since our other car is electric, the Velar is our dedicated road trip car. I wouldn't hesitate drive cross country in it. In fact, my wife is leaving on an extended rails-to-trails biking tour in a couple of weeks with her mother and will put 3,000 miles on the odo before she gets back. I have no wo...

Re: what is this part in rear, either side of Velar

I just installed a hitch on my wife's Velar (still have wounds from dropping the exhaust to get to those right hand side bolts on the bumper bar). I think those are the sensors for the gesture tailgate.

Re: Why I'm not concerned about JLR's poor reliability performance in the Which Magazine 2020 Review

I don't know that these are excuses as much as approaching these cars with the proper attitude. If you treat a JLR product like its a Toyota/Lexus, then you will be disappointed. Unless you lease or trade in cars frequently, then you had better be prepared to stay on top of the maintenance (even mor...

Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch

Yesterday I installed a Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch on my wife's Velar. At a little over $200, it is obviously much cheaper than the official JLR version. The unit itself is very robust, but since it does not use all of the mounting points that JLR version does, I would not pull a camper or a ...

Re: Previous owner still connected on LR Incontrol

I've purchased a used Velar and a used Jaguar I Pace in the last year. In both cases, calling and emailing JLR has been worthless w/r/t switching ownership in the inControl system, and in both cases a sales associate at the dealer was able to fix the problem quickly (and in the case of the I Pace, i...
