Re: Going for Dapple Grey / Ebony interior

Agree completely with your main point. Great idea to have the textile seat. Poor implementation with a stupid price. Too late if you've already ordered but another way of getting the non-leather seat which I looked at is to get the base model with its cloth seats + vinyl trim and add the other optio...

Re: Why are there so few Velars on the road?

It's only been on sale just over a year and with a list price of £50k+ for most of them once the options are added. An expensive car will never be a big seller.

Re: New Evoque is coming on Nov 22nd

To my eyes the new Evoque looks great inside and out and a viable slightly smaller alternative to the Velar even if it’s heavy for its size. For me the 4-cylinder would have been a deal breaker but, at least in the UK market where there’s no 6-cylinder petrol, the only alternative you have is the V6...

Re: Black interiors... too dark?

Why would you choose a black headlining if white or similar is available ? White/light colour every time for me.

Re: D180 or P250?

I've been considering a Velar ownership for a longer period than a typical 3-year hire and for me it would be a petrol due to concern about all the emission control stuff on the diesels going spectacularly wrong and costing £££££ with lots of inconvenience, whether it's DPF clogging up, engine oil d...

Re: Do I Cancel?

Velar and M2 are totally different cars and driving experiences so make your decision on which type of vehicle you want to own/lease. BMW are hardly paragons of reliability: when you read the ownership surveys most of them put BMW well down the league table of owner satisfaction and reliability. To ...

Re: "SERVICE REQUIRED" - 3600 miles in D300 engine

I thought the problem discussed by user J77 only applies to the transversely-engined models, not the Velar.

Re: Velar D240/D300 vs GLE350D

There seems to be a feeling in the posts here that buying a Merc will be free of problems but that’s not necessarily the case. All the major makers except Lexus and possibly Infiniti can suffer serious trouble. For example the steering crabbing on right-hand-drive GLC models is well documented on th...

Re: Experience of using Stratstone?

Haven’t used Stratstone but some comments on the PCP. I don’t own a Velar but am considering one and am interested to look at the costs involved in PCP. The main one is that it’s based on 6000 miles a year whereas you said you do a lot of miles. Crunching the numbers, if you do an average 12000 mile...

Re: How long does it take for your driver license to arrive? (UK)

When my photocard license was updated on two different occasions it took 3 to 4 days. The first time was for change of address, the second time was when it expired - they only last 10 years - and it was renewed using the photo I'd supplied for my passport.
