Hi

i test drove a used Velar at a LR dealer recently and the auto tailgate wasn’t lifting on its own. The salesman said that it was because the battery was low and that after the test drive would open fine.

Sure enough afterwards it did open on its own. The only thing I was wondering was does this mean that the battery is in poor condition and is this likely to keep happening?

Maybe the battery is just low because it’s been stood at the dealers. The fact that it recovered after a short journey is encouraging, but you could get the battery tested before you take the plunge?

I had this happen to me when the battery was low. I also never had the auto stop/start work with the original battery. I upgraded the battery capacity when I replaced it and never since had the hatch not opening problem and also the auto stop/start works flawlessly every time.
