So, I bought my Velar in the UK to Spanish spec and imported it to Spain. I may do this again with Stratstone....my question to all you knowledgeable people here: why are cars in Spain so much more expensive than in the UK and elsewhere? Tax?

The rate of VAT is similar so it’s not that. Now that the UK isn’t in the EU would you have to pay Spanish tax on the imported car -
Taxes
The following taxes and duty must be paid when importing a vehicle into Spain:

• VAT (IVA) at 16 per cent on cars imported from outside the EU or on a tax-free car (on which VAT hasn’t previously been paid) imported from an EU country;
• the registration tax depends on the CO2 emissions, and most likely you are required to pay 12 percent. The table below will give you more information.

Percentage tax	Emission
0	less than 120 grams of CO2 per kilometre
4.75	from 120 to 160 grams of CO2 per kilometre
9.75	from 160 to 200 grams of CO2 per kilometre
12	not rated for CO2 emissions
14.75	more than 200 grams of CO2 per kilometre

Yeah but I can (and did) buy it ex-VAT in the UK so it evened out. But see below as an example. How can this possibily be?

Might not do base models in Spain. Wish mine had been £46k.. reality is much more like the Spanish figure.

Probably due to specs and packs on Spanish build.

Sure, you're right. Here's a like for like comparison. £147k Vs £128k. Still £19k. Not as huge but still £19k for exactly the same car.
