Another great video from Harry Metcalfe - Farmer , friend of Clarkson, car nut, petrol-head and ex-Editor of Evo magazine.
Harry knows his cars and motorbikes.
He has produced this video with excellent assistance of the CEO of Warranty-Wise.
So, these data show real claim figures, costs and mileages.
These are not 'voluntary' figures where, to be honest, some sources could be questioned!
Which is the most (& least) reliable Range Rover?
It's quite long but worth watching for the comments.
e.g. Harry's 19 year old 130k mile Rangie has been reliable. Why? He gets it serviced early. (And maybe a little luck
).
The Warranty-Wise chap is bewildered by the amount of people who don't get the vehicles serviced on time.
And makes comments about extended service intervals and how they should be ignored and carried out early (we all know that).
It seems that, in some cases, people buy them to pose or feel good and then neglect them as they haven't got the proper money.
Worryingly, that could be the previous owner of yours and then you have problems.
here are a couple of screenshots about the kind of people that own Range Rovers. The whole range not just Velar btw.
Terrible, even with bonkers long intervals, there is a figure of 83% not keeping to recommended servicing intervals!
No wonder the bl**ding things fail if people are too lazy or tight to get it done.
Anyway, watch it and then you'll see that neglect is a contributory factor to unreliability figure.
To me it shows that you can have pretty good reliability if you don't abuse them and you look after them.
If people want cheap motoring then don't buy a Rangie (and many other top makes).
