I definitively would have preferred the diesel on a suv like the velar, I really liked the sound and torque of the V6 D300 when I tried it.

It all depends where you live: living in Paris I can not take the risk of purchasing a diesel as a new car, I usually keep my cars 5 years
when I like them.
Reselling my diesel XC90 currently , I have only prospects from small towns far from Paris for my car:
nobody wants a diesel anymore close to the city.
A simple reason is that they probably will not be allowed to drive after 2020-2022, if no for sure for the olympic games in 2024.

That's why I went for the P300, but could not try it. I will be one of the first to get one here, I hope that the turbo compressed
petrol engine will have a little of the torque of the diesel : 400nm at 1500 tr/mn is not bad compared
too older V6 design .

I don't care of the consumption , but more about the autonomy with a full tank.
Considering the depreciation of a new car, consumption is a minor issue for me.

But why LR is making so small tanks ?

I have the P300 and although only have it 10 days we have done a mixture of local and motorway journeys. Plenty of torque and mid speed acceleration. Like you I live in a city (London).

I am very pleased with my choice.
