Evening All,

A quick question…I had my timing chain replaced back in December by main dealer. Do any of you good folk know whether they should have changed the oil as part of that procedure?

Many thanks

Which engine? How old?
Was it changed due to failure, rattling, mileage or recommendation?

Have a look here:

It's too long for me to read.

If you look at the failures the discussions mostly blame failures on inadequate oil change intervals (not your fault) and the gunging consequences.
So there will be the ping-pong between 'sensible' intervals and manufacturer's guidance.
It may vary with Dealer I would guess.

A modified tensioner/guide was fitted in 2019, I would ask Dealer/Workshop whether they upgraded that (assuming you have Ingenium engine? You don't say).

I'd contact the Dealer and ask them.
If they locked their Accountant in a cupboard they may have changed oil :)
And I've never seen whether petrol engines have similar risks. They get less gungy.
