Premature Brake Disc Corrosion
Premature Brake Disc Corrosion
At only covering 10k miles a Landrover Technician has highlighted that I have signs of corrosion during a service,
Is this possible to be rectified under warranty ?

Re: Premature Brake Disc Corrosion
I had this on my previous Evoque a couple of years ago. Picked up on first service and the dealer remedied under warranty without even being prompted.

Re: Premature Brake Disc Corrosion
I have a similar issue, my local dealer (there is just one in Bulgaria) pretty much ignored me. The whole brake assembly looks as if it's some Dacia or old Mazda...

Re: Premature Brake Disc Corrosion
I was informed by my dealer that JLR will no longer replace rusty brake discs under warranty mainly due to the spending freeze that is affecting all departments. This is not a good situation but should be a timely lesson to the purchasing department at JLR that sourcing cheap products and squeezing suppliers on price is not good for customer relations and satisfaction.

Re: Premature Brake Disc Corrosion
@Spencerwilks: That is more than bad news. Doesn’t JLR have a legal obligation under its warranty contracts with customers???? I would be surprised if JLR could just simply get away with this, at least here in Switzerland.

Re: Premature Brake Disc Corrosion
Warranties generally do not affect your statutory rights so if a product is not of merchantable quality or is not fit for for the purpose intended then there may be a legal claim. If you have legal cover as part of your motor or home insurance it may be worth calling the provider for advice.
Re: Premature Brake Disc Corrosion
Thanks, Harry. Exactly what I was thinking. So I would certainly raise this with JLR.

Re: Premature Brake Disc Corrosion
I took delivery yesterday of my Velar which is a year old 10,600 mile ex JLR management vehicle loaded with some very useful extras and is in as new condition except for VERY RUSTY BRAKE DISCS . I have already made the service department of the supplying dealer aware of this but they have stated that they are not allowed to change them as a warranty claim due to cost restrictions put on them by JLR. They have apparently done this in the past and have had their fingers seriously rapped and sometimes not reimbursed by JLR. This situation with JLR supplying vehicles with inferior brake discs (or rotors for our US friends ) is not acceptable and if I cannot get these rusty parts replaced under warranty I intend to put details on social media and inform the motoring magazine’s Editors. Rusty brake discs can be an MOT failure in the UK and the quality of the parts that JLR are sourcing is not acceptable on a luxury vehicle and is both a visual blight on an otherwise lovely vehicle but most of all a safety matter. Has anybody else on the Forum had any success with JLR over this problem?
