I’ve been updated to S18D_18.47.5... and I can confirm that Car Play improvements are the real deal.

- remote start then access CarPlay works
- Car Play launch is quick and seems reliable

Some other confirmed noticeable items:

- new graphics in mode select
- some new wallpapers
- lower screen radio favourites work (they don’t disappear)
- ambient lighting remembers what I set it to

Not a full test, but so far so good.

I’m not overly bothered about car play, I just want software that works and LR seem completely incapable of doing that.
Pentland Edinburgh installed 18D for me yesterday with Carplay.

Incontrol still crashes, but Carplay seems to be working so far.

Interestingly, the salesman said this was phase 4 update, and if I want incontrol apps fixed, I would have to wait until phase 5 which won't be available until January.

18D is the 4th major updat of 2018, so by some descriptions it would phase 4 (of 2018).

Has anyone else still got incontrol apps crashing with 18D installed?

Strange,

Pentland (Cupar) told me today that when I bring my car in for repairs in a couple of weeks that the latest software they will be installing is Phase 4 and does not include Apple CarPlay!

They will let me know when it is available and think early next year. Strange as it is the same dealership!

Just sent them an email with the image and asked if better to take car there (it’s where I bought it). Will see what they say.

Cupar are not telling you the truth about Carplay, but from what seems to be going round on here, some of the dealers are trying to extract money from customers.

This was my second visit, as they were supposed to do it 3 weeks ago as the start/stop had stopped working, but they fobbed me off with some BS that they needed my phone present to do the incontrol update. I suspect they ran out of time fixing that, and decided to bump me to another day.

When I booked it in I did jokingly tell the service department that the software was a pile of crap.

I didn't even ask for carplay, even though I wanted it, but I was worried that if I asked they would charge me. I suspect that they knew the update would not fix incontrol apps, and that was the only solution, as they actually had a 2 day booking allocated as they advised me that they can have problems with the update.

They did actually manage to do it first time.

Keep us posted on how you get on.
