Crackling Audio

Post by LeeHardy » Tue Nov 20, 2018 9:23 pm

I have like a crackling sound/stuttering sound on the audio which is intermittent when sound is being played. It’s on radio and also when I’m playing songs via iPhone.

Anyone else had this issue?

Do you have version 17 software, as I understand crackling can occur with version 17

I doubt it is anything to do with software. My car has been plagued with issues since collection in December 2027. Had been off the road for 4 months out of the 11 months.

The one issue that JLR have not been able to fix is the audio glitch noise. Even makes it when in reverse and the reversing beepers are beeping. The noise is like a white noise glitch. Often comes from different speakers st random regardless of the audio source. Even with no audio playing I can still hear random glitch noises.

My car has had all updates at one time or other up to the latest survey ACP/ AA. Absolutely love ACP and it has transformed the car for me personally but the glitch noise is worse. Sometimes it is better than other times but experienced every single journey with the noise bring tears every minute or so.

Car has had hardware changes also. JLR and dealers refuse to acknowledge it point blank deny it is an issue. Reading between the lines though they are fully aware of the issue abs fail to fix it let alone recognise it.

I understand the newer 2019? Model year cars have had a wiring design change. Maybe related.

I have the same fault. Intermittent crackling as described. still waiting for dealers to get in touch. It just shows it’s not a isolated problem.
It’s a joke that a prestigious car maker has so many faults.

JLR might well ignore this issue and fob you off by saying they cannot replicate it or just say they will update software. I have done battle with this issue now for 11 months. I would insist you demonstrate the fault so it cannot be dismissed. From my experience, this fault cannot be fixed easily or at all without maybe rewiring the entire car or something extreme. If my car did not have this fault I might have considered keeping it but does not bode well.
