Extended Warranty

Now I know it’s early days still, but has anyone enquired or even taken out the extended warranty option? And if so what sort of cost was it?

One of my main concerns given JLR’s reliability history is that taking the car on a 4 year pcp will leave me open to potentially expensive repair costs in that 4th year!

Funny I had the exact same concern about the 4th year on a PCP deal. My dealer told me that I would be called a week or two prior to the 3 year anniversary and offered an extended warranty. He thought it was in the region of £600 for the year.

This is the experience I have had with JLR, except I received the offers by post with a booklet explaining what was and wasn't covered with the various levels of cover on offer.

Glad I did take them up on the offer with my XF as it had the automatic gear box changed at their expense at about 3.5 years.

I could cope with £600 for piece of mind. Wasn’t sure if it was something I had to commit to now or not.

4th year on my Jag XX 3.0d was around £1100

Hard for me to say, I’ve never kept a car for the whole PCP period* ....but would definitely not want to run a Velar without a warranty...

* and probably won’t yet again

Quoted £985 for an extended warranty on mine - 2017 FE with 30K

Bit steep, but that's 1 or 2 repairs. Anyone been quoted cheaper to give me a stick to beat the dealer with?

Have you compared it to a 3rd party warranty like Warranty Wise etc? Just wondered if that’s an alternative and if the cover is as good?
