washer fluid drain

Post by iago_00 » Wed Feb 06, 2019 6:26 pm

anyone knows how to drain the washer fluid. I filled the reservoir with a fluid with too much alcohol on it and it smells too much.

Put some hose in the top filler push it down. Put your thumb on the top making it air tight and pull the hose out. Let your thumb off when clear of the car...

There is a "protective plastic net" that won't let the tube go down... I'm not sure it can be removed.
As for the second hint, with 4 litters of fluid, I think I'll spend my whole life to finish it :D

Switch the headlights on and operate the washers and it will soon empty the 5 litres in the washer container.

I emptied my my washer fluid to change to neat fluid for winter, and it only took about 5 minutes. The pump did complain with funny noises a bit, as it's not used to getting constant running for an extended time.

If you used too much alcohol, it might be a wise move to also throw some water over the car to avoid any paint damage from the discarded fluid.

Alternatively, get a thin hose and stick it in the spout of the washer fluid reservoir (pictured) and use the good ‘ol gravity method. I haven’t done this myself before but I think that is what that spout is there for.
