Brake Squeal

Mine hasn't got this. If its damp, the brakes squeal at first. Seems to be the front only... possibly only one side but its hard to determine. They also sound 'rough' until used a few times which I assume is the build up of rust being worn away.

My brakes are squealing too!!! It sounds as though it is coming from the front brakes.
And the rust on the discs looks terrible! Why didn't LR use steel which has better corrosion resistance? Considering that the car is designed to do off-roading including wading in water!!!
Mine is going in for a service in the 3rd week of Jan, and I will get this looked at.

Breaks squealing too in cold morning mostly at the beginning. then it tend to disappear.

I told this to the dealer but he said it was 'no big deal'. Hope he is right ...

I come back from a 10 days trip in the french alps where I had close to 0 ° every morning and had it almost every day ...

Here is the response from my service visit. Never in my 25 plus cars have I had this issue. I even took a video for the service advisor on two different dates.

This brake squeal is really getting annoying and embarrassing! Weather has been dry, vehicle always garaged 30 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Any time the left front rotor cools for a short period, even while driving it will start to squeal. If this is normal as the dealer told me above, why is it only the front left? I am not buying this reasoning!

Yep - same issue. Its currently in Land Rover and they came back with the same response as above...corrosion, should clear after a few hard brakes and there is no fix for this. I challenged hard and said there must be a fix as they wouldn't sell an approved used car making this sound (it wouldn't sell!) and also, it only started doing so a month ago - no issues in 2.5 years!

The Velar is awesome, not had a single issue with it apart from software in the early days - I hope this doesn't get worse and leave a sour taste as it has the potential to stop me buying another one - quite embarrassing driving down the street with everyone looking at me.

JLR have just buried their head in the sand over the brake squeal problem and the rusty brake discs which is quite disgraceful .
The new CEO Thierry Bollore should restore customer service once again which had seriously deteriorated under the previous CEO Ralph Speth. Long overdue some of us would say as the attitude of the people working in the so called JLR Customer Relationship Centre has certainly been below acceptable standards when they state that rusty brake discs are fair wear and tear and not a warranty matter which is pathetic. A recently posted picture says it all so how can this be fair wear and tear?My brake discs looked like this when I purchased a 12 month old 10K miles Ex JLR managers Velar last August and I have failed so far to get them replaced under warranty.
