SVA wrong build = wrong fuel tank

Post by tilak.kotecha » Tue Dec 17, 2019 10:06 pm

Hi All,

Thought I would keep this short.

The new petrol Velars, including the SVA should have an 82 litre tank.

I have been filling to a top 65 Litres, So I went to JLR to raise my concerns.

They have confirmed my Velar SVA has a 66 Litre tank and the service manager is baffled to why this is and is investigating...

I believe this is a rear incident but does anyone here know what can be done? Can a new tank be added or is this mission impossible?

Built in October but regardless of build date, the SVA was sold on the "website facts" of having a 82 Litre tank

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks

Wow! That’s a monumental and embarrassing cock up! Keep us posted! As you said, all petrol Velars should have an 82 litre tank and diesel 60 litres (usable) it says in the brochure.

Will be interesting if others have the same issue!

my last fill up was 67 liter petrol E10 for my SVA-D and it was by far not empty - so i think there is one thing they did not mess up with ;-) - Build beginning of May 2019 and delivery 10th of august

I have a Velar P250 with a build date of 01/11/19. I filled up recently when the range was showing less than 15 miles. I filled it to the brim and it took exactly 70 litres.

Neither one nor t’’other.

Maybe I got a Goldilocks sized tank :-)

I with a 50-mile remaining range I managed to squeeze in 60.53 liters ... so I think my P250 doesn't have a tank of over 70 liters of capacity ...

Wonder if the brochure/specs are wrong then?

Update:

To confirm my argument today, I took the sales manager to the nearest petrol station to fill up and for him to validate the tank size.

With only 32 miles showing on the range, I managed to fill 59.5 litres. Total range showing after fill up was 204miles which is absurd.

The sales manager took this screenshot and sent it to internal management to investigate.

I doubt the brochure is incorrect as Teddy’s SVA seems to easily get to 67 litre without being empty and all the online reviews talk about the SVA boasting a 82 litre tank to accompany the 5.0 V8.

Let’s see what happens next.

I think My SVA shows the residual fuel range up to the moment of the warning light to go on. Having a range of about 24 km i can put about 65 litres in the tank and the warning ist still of. So i should have still 17 litres in the tank i could go for about 120 km more before refill (mean usage about 13.5 l/100 km. But i do not trust the car :-)

On our P380 with the range showing zero (my wife drives me crazy driving the car to E), she put in 19.3 US Gallons (73 liters). I assume that we have about 9 liters (2.4 US gallons) of additional reserve after hitting zero range.

I have been always confused about the car's estimated range. Sometimes I have about Quarter and half tank fuel and range showing only 50-60 miles. I have always refilled the tank at that point, but I am pretty sure there is software mistake.
