Sound system 825W

Post by jackhowes » Thu Jun 04, 2020 4:12 pm

Hi All!

New here, picked up my HSE yesterday. Seem to be not getting good bassy sound at volume 25+, does anyone know the best settings for this?
Secondly, can RR dealers fit the higher 1600watt system into it, or is it not possible?

The Meridian Surround system in the HSE kicks out lots of bass. Have you set the subwoofer high enough?

I’ve got it 2 bars from full, and the bass the same, is it best to turn the bass more towards the middle and the sub up? Also, best to have on meridian not Dolby etc? 3D or stereo?

Thank you :)

You won’t get good, deep, rich bass from that system. I’ve come from Audi’s with Bose systems and the Meridian offering is miles behind. You sort of get used to it, but it’s one the most disappointing aspects of my car.

Really? I’m pretty impressed by it but then I’m no audiophile nor have I experienced the Audi system.

Coming from the Harmon Kardon system in my BMW to the Meridian in the HSE, the general sound quality in the HSE is better but the bass is weaker. That's just the way it is.

I'm not an audiophile, but selecting Dolby Pro Logic and moving the center point to the rear a couple of clicks did seem to bring da bass a little more.

I thought the HSE Came with the 1500W?
Anyway I have the 825W, it can be improved with tweaking and moving the focal point etc
But it will never as good as even the basic Audi setup

Tastes differ I suppose. The Meridian system has a more natural sound profile that can sometimes give a bit too much treble for me. It’s not bass oriented but I certainly would not call it bass light. I preferred their old B&W system that I had in a Jaguar XF. Whilst a fan if Bose headphones, the one Bose system I had in a car I didn’t like, the bass was too prominent giving a muddy sound.

I have the 1600W system but across Meridian systems, the settings allow for changes to Bass, Focal Point (suggested slightly behind the driver - not the default between the driver and passenger seats) and you will see a relatively meaningful difference.

These systems are developed by audio engineers who tend not to overplay the bass, but it can be set any way you like.
The 825W system should be up to the job! The 1600W system adds an amp, more speakers and sounds brilliant
- better than the H&K (but as good as the Burmeister though a much smaller cabin).
