s/w upgrade to fix battery draining

Post by moonlitknight » Fri Jun 26, 2020 10:56 pm

I'm experiencing very poor battery life. I typically use the car one per week and am finding a flat battery more often than not.

It's been in for a check up and the verdict is that the fix is a firmware update that dealer has applied to "various modules" in the car. Has anybody else had the same experience and was the problem fixed by new firmware?

We had a similar issue and first assumed there was something wrong with the battery cells or the alternator - a warranty replacement.
Fortunately the tech at our dealership was very experienced and identified the issue immediately.
The battery setting to signal to the alternator that the battery needs to be recharged was set too low so the recharge was only kicking in too late.
This was adjusted up to the correct level and I have never had an issue again.

I am not sure this is a firmware issue - I would be very surprised if it is.
I have gone 6 weeks without the car being used and the car has started the first time, no error messages or trouble keeping audio/HVAC going whilst parked with the ignition off.
