Biannual Service Cost

My car is due its 2 year service and has done 30k miles. I have just called my local JLR dealer and they have quoted me £650. Is this correct, as looking at what they will be doing it a bit higher than I was expecting?

- Carry out vehicle inspection checks as documented in the WSM instructions. Where available also perform an eVHC.
- Replace interior air filter.
- Renew engine oil and filter.
- Replace the air cleaner element.
- Replace fuel filter element.
- Carry out road test as documented in the WSM instructions.
- If fault lamp(s) are illuminated, interrogate that system using the JLR approved diagnostic equipment and report findings.
- Check for any applicable outstanding service actions or recalls.
- Report any unusual features of vehicle condition and additional work required.
- Reset service indicator.
- Endorse service record.

I've managed to find it for £596 but that's a 60 mile round trip.

Mine isnt due yet but around £500-£600 is the norm from a main dealer which is a total rip-off for a service where the parts cost around £80.

Would you invalidate the warranty if you take it to an independant?

No as long as they used genuine LR parts and followed the stated LR servicing schedule. These are available on TOPiX I believe.
