Keyfob in washing machine

Post by iago_00 » Sun Jun 06, 2021 8:58 pm

Yes, it happened. I forgot my key into my trousers pocket and washed it in a full cycle ... but in the end it was happy ending. I wanted to share this experience and maybe it might help someone.

Got it out of the washing machine, opened and removed battery. Dried it then with a hair drier with cold air, for about 10 minutes. Afterwards I filled the inside with an electric contact reactivator (svitol) and left it for 20 minutes. Removed the excess reactivator, put a new battery inside closed the fob and ... it worked!!!
I don't know if it was just luck, however, it worked and was really glad, considering the price I might have to pay.
I think, after all, LR is really good quality (in some other forums I read a lot of disasters).

Putting a Landrover in water was never their weak point 😂
Great information it worked this way. I wonder if it would had worked before the drying treatment?
