what a sad start

Post by Velar Mike » Fri Jan 12, 2018 2:36 pm

Finally, today I got my Range Rover Velar, 240D SE. It just took a short ride of 5 minutes when the tyre pressure monitoring system reported a fault with the sensors. I turned around and just at the next red traffic light the front air suspension droped the car for 2 seconds before lifting it again. It was acommpanied by a strange noise that is hard to explain.
So all in all, 15 min after receiving the car from the dealership the car was back in their territory and now I am driving a new Discovery from their fleet, until mine will be fixed. Not the way of starting my first Range Rover experience I thought before.
By the way, service action N143 was not done before hand-over, seems to be a process issue at the dealers side.
Happy Weekend
Mike

That stinks!! Hopefully all will be well soon.

I've had the common issues....usb not working, map intermittently disappearing from driver display, auto start/stop not functioning..but overall I haven't had any major issues with the car. Hopefully it stays that way.

First model year though...this isn't terribly uncommon across all makes. As I mentioned in another thread, my brand new Porsche had to have the engine pulled and was the dealer over a month back in 2015.

As long as the dealer provides great service and gives loaner vehicles that are up to par, I'm forgiving. Good luck, and hopefully this is just a one time occurence!

That’s not a good first day. My tyre pressure warning thing keeps coming on when it’s cold / below freezing but the tyre pressure are fine. On another note I need adblue, anyone know how to stop the helpful adblue reminder popping up every 5 seconds?

the dealer was realy eager to satisfy me today and did an outstanding job. 2 hours ago they delivered my new Velar. Sensors had been replaced and a bulk of new software was uploaded since noon.
I was told that JLR shipped wrong/old tyre sensors that do not match with the car.
so at the end of the day, i am very happy as the car is wonderful. pics will follow.

Final quality checks before factory exit seem to be an unknown topic at JLR.
Maybe their understanding of premium is the cars are like bananas, they ripen at the customer. 🤔
Really stupid to waste all of the great brand by saving money at quality checks for the car and software. What is this, some manager with an excel spreadsheet found a way to save money? Mercedes had this stupid approach years ago and it almost killed their business. They changed this and installed the quality department. Then gave them the ultimate power to execute a full stop of rollout if things don’t work as they should. Probably JLR should consider an internship 😂

Hola, Mike.

Gracias.

You’re right - final checks are shocking

Don’t forget my puddle light on one side showed the Jaguar logo instead of the picture of the Velar 🤣 That has to be the best one yet!!!!!

Hola Eduardo,
it seems that our cars shared exactly the same problems.
Anyhow, now they have been fixed and I am enjoying the Velar every kilometer. What a gorgeous car.
