Cleaning the leather

Post by shw » Fri Feb 16, 2018 8:53 am

Hi Folks, I've got the 'Light Oyster Perforated Grained Leather and Ebony Suedecloth' in my Velar. I took delivery of it back at the start of December and I've covered about 1300 miles. The passenger and drivers seats are discoloured already! Obviously from my jeans! I've licked my finger and rubbed it against the seat and the 'stain' is coming off. I want to give them a good clean this weekend, I'm just wondering what everybody else is doing? I've read the ticket thats attached to the seat and it just says use water and a cloth? I'm a little dubious about using actual leather cleaner as I don't want to damage the seat or make the suede element of the seat go all nasty! Also, I don't want a shiny slippy seat.... which I hate!
Is there something I can use to protect the leather? So it repels some of the die from my jeans?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

Dr Leather wipes seems to be the common consensus!

Similar question came up on the Full Fat Range Rover site recently, the link might be helpful.

Don't use Woolite!!

Dr Leather Wipes and their other products are highly regarded in Detailing forums.

So;

Also these guys are highly recommended;

I personally use Dr Leather but both are highly regarded in the UK Detailing world for leather cleaning!

We have the same seats in ours and have the same problem. I use maguires leather cleaner and I comes straight off. Don’t put much on the cloth though as it will get stuck in the perforations.

A pack of suitable wipes in the glove box does me for the weekly wipe. I also fully clean and moisturize the leather on a regular basis especially in the summer.

if I am wearing new jeans or dark coloured I will often sit on a tea towel, again more so in the summer

Tried to get the Dr. Leather wipes in the USA. They don’t distribute here unfortunately. Anyone on this side of the pond find something similar?
