Hi folks,

I mentioned this on another thread which has sunk into the fossil record so....

Aviva. £185 fully comprehensive on D300 V6 R-dynamic. 7yrs NCB. Added our 25yr old son and premium rose to £389. No tracker needed. Includes 12mths GAP replacement cover (brand new car of same specification). I am 52, Mrs A is 58. We live in the rural Scottish Borders. Still, worth a look as they are not on the comparison websites.

PS. If you have an Aviva product already then they discount further - can’t remember if it’s an additional 10% or 20%.
D300 R-dynamic with lots of optional toys. Corris Grey, sunroof, activity bracelet, configurable lighting, 825w Meridian sound, heated everything, configurable dynamics, summer / winter tyres & the all important cup holder cover!

got a full comp with NFU for £549 which I found reasonable - second cheapest was Aviva about £20 difference...all others at least 30% more

Could someone please PM me the details of a contact at NFU Mutual.

I just rang them and they took my name and postcode (west London) and refused to quote me saying that they would not be competitive.

Ended up going with Aviva, £719 for me and my wife which is competitive considering age and location. No tracker needed.

My quote from LR insurance was £9,147.49!!

OMG Fatmanz that quote from LR sounds horrendous. I ended up paying £800 with a broker I’ve used for many years (A- Plan, Thatcham branch who specialise in non run of the mill vehicles).

The people I do the house with were trying to persuade me to go with them as a package, but wanted £2k with a £700 excess plus a Category 5 tracker. Needless to say they didn’t get my business!

I was set against having anyone doing anything with the cars electrics given reported problems people have, the last thing you need is JLR blaming a third party for causing problems....

Taking deliver of velar first edition Silicon silver, need to sort out the insurance. Not eligible for free 7 day insurance as car does not have a tracker! Would not get it fitted anyways. Can anyone recommend a reasonable insurance broker? Can't believe what I have been quoted online! Thanks.

Give this guy a call. He sorted me out and the cover through Aviva has a new car for a replacement if your car is written off for 3 years so negated the need for Gap insurance. Also no tracker needed. Tell him Mark gave you his number. I took insurance out today with him. I got the free 7 days insurance through Land Rover when I picked my car up though and it doesn't have a tracker.

Thanks for the reply. Land Rover won’t give you 7 day insurance if your car is 75000 pounds and over without a tracker. Aviva won’t insure an expensive car if it’s not parked in a locked garage overnight. My house is undergoing an extension and garage won’t be ready until last week of April and that’s my problem!!

As above we went with A Plan, Thatcham branch. No additional security needed, car parked on drive at night. Underwritten by
Ageas.

I’m surprised at the 7 day free insurance response, I’d report that back to Customer Services as in effect they are not providing a good level of support bearing in mind how many cars are worth by ore than the £75k cut off and don’t live in garages...
