Price rises....

Post by Ty Rua » Tue May 15, 2018 7:15 pm

It truly astonishes me that hidden in the revision in 2019 MY prices is quite a price hike. As if Velars weren't too far up there as it was!
Cars I was configuring, spec for spec in 2017 with new 2018 prices, show a rise of more than 6%.

You know, let JLR go with it. Sooner or later they will have to meet the market but once gain I'm back to German cars. Another sale lost.....

I think there is more standard equipment at different trim levels accounting for the bump in prices. In any case there are good deals to be had if you are patient and negotiate. Almost no one pays list. Off the website.

Some of the cars I've specced ended up with a lower list price because the car no longer had certain items of equipment that I didn't want anyway. When I did spec a like-for-like car (2019 vs 2018) the price seemed pretty similar and certainly nothing as high as a 6% rise

As always it is the apples with apples thing. BTW, I spec'd a new Touareg (just for my interest) and I was surprised on the outcome, compared to a Velar of +/- same specs, the price was much higher. Speaking about options, almost everything on the Touareg is optional....

All pcp prices have risen actually. D300 seems worst hit with 5k reduction in value after 3 years!!

My rockcar d300 went up 100pm!!! In a stock car.

If you accept passive suspension then you can save 4 pounds per month on a new d300. You are losing a lot for this though.

Hse not hit as bad due to keeping the suspension.

I am wondering if JLR realised the need for discounts, and incorporated the price rise into 2019 MY's to off-set the usual 6% you could get with a bit of haggling
.
I run a Touareg now (excellent BTW) and am looking at the new 2018 model due out this summer. Managed over 18% off my last one, which puts them back into reasonable territory. Also waiting for the new A6 Allroad to replace my 2016 - tempting too. Another good VAG product, but with Brexit would love to get back to English cars.

It's called adjusting for inflation. All car manufacturers do it. Some need to adjust more based on where they source parts from.
