No Land Rover for me - ever!

Post by Ty Rua » Thu May 17, 2018 9:51 pm

I was, seriously, considering a new Velar this month. Until I read this.
I find this truly disgusting, both as a kiwi and as a businessman. If Land Rover feel that a sponsored sportsman cannot have total freedom of speech, and/or expression, I will never, ever buy a car from them. I'm not alone. several friends have said the same. I hope every freedom loving Christian abandons plans to buy JLR products.

Quite honestly, I am on my way first thing tomorrow to pick up my deposit of £1,000.

I think it's good that Land Rover don't want to be associated with the homophobic behavior.
LR's response works for me,
still a great brand i my opinion, maybe even better standing against hate

Thanks for sharing! I hadn’t heard about this and it makes me like them even more.

I think all major automakers would decline to have an openly homophobic person associated with their brand to be honest, as they should.

Also, as a businessman, you should better understand this. Freedom of speech is a right everyone should be afforded, but if you’re being PAID to promote a brand, you don’t have the freedom to openly discriminate against a demographic that surely buys that company’s products. Common sense.

Thanks for posting this. I was a little down on JLR due to some tech niggles with my Velar. This has reinvigorated my support for the brand. Will look into putting a deposit down for the Defender when it’s announced.

JLR rise in my esteem. So easy to tread the political correct path or look the other way but they have acted decisively on their values. You're welcome to act on yours Ty.

Because you want to buy British this time (viva Brexit as you said before), will you be in a Nissan Qashqai now - it is built proudly in Sunderland albeit with parts from the continent.

Well done JLR for standing up to what is right, not necessarily what is popular (to some of the haters in this world).

I love how OP throws in "every freedom loving Christian" in his original post. What part of the scripture (bible or any other religious book) says it is OK to hate or discriminate just because they are different??

Move on loser!
