Car roof boxes

Post by mapearce » Fri Aug 16, 2019 11:27 am

Anyone here have any experience with car roof boxes and what would fit the Velar best?

I'm currently looking at the Packline FX SUV but it's an order directly to my door and don't fancy having to send it back if it doesn't fit quite right. Especially with the Swedish mail system being shite compared to what I was used to in the US and UK.

I have the factory Velar roof bars fitted and use the Thule ranger 90 which is a collapsible roof box so it is easy to fold away and store in its own bag when not in use ...very well made and very impressed with its ease of fitting and use. (280L)

I have a Halfords box on LR cross bars, the bars have a speed limit of 80mph and the box is 70mph, not a problem as towing a caravan as well.

Quite noisy.

Tried to post a picture but it said invalid file type.

File size must be less than 2 mb. There are apps available to resize images, or emailing to yourself should give you an option to reduce the file size.

MikeJL

Thanks, it was over 2mb and emailing it to myself resulted in it getting bigger.

Can’t resize on my iPad but can at home so will do it then.

Emailing it should have given you size options

But can Just do a screenshot and crop it, it will be smaller

Is it more of a boxy design? That’s why I’m going the aerodynamic route as I’m hoping to reduce the wind noise.

Slightly streamlined but I suspect the noise is caused by the gap between the box and the roof.

I once had a freelander with JLR roof rails and box perfect fit very expensive and very very noisy I would not fit one again.
