Bonnet Flex/ Vibrating at high speeds/winds

Post by smithyblade » Tue Feb 11, 2020 12:03 pm

As per the subject, I’ve recently noticed the bonnet (hood) flexing or vibrating when I’ve been doing 60mph+ on the motorway and in high winds. It’s obviously been more noticeable this last week or so with the storms. But when I was driving through France last week I noticed it at higher speeds initially.

It seems like the bonnet is going to lift from its hinges at the back (windscreen end) of the bonnet as it flexes perhaps 10-20mm

I’ve checked the bonnet on all corners and feels solid so not sure if it’s just that the bonnet material is thinner to reduce weight.

I’m booking it in next week for the map updates and have asked the dealers to have a look or advise.

Has anyone else experienced/ noticed this?

Never noticed this at all even at more than regular speeds on private roads. I’d take to the dealer to assess.
