Engine fan running most of the time

The engine fan is running a lot on my Velar. When I'm driving, when idling, about 70% of the time it's running. Has anyone else experienced this?

Generally they are very quiet and run at a low speed if required in hot weather.
Had my thermostat changed a few months ago as once it's been running for 20 mins the fan cut in at full wack sounded like the car was going to take off. It was a fault within the thermostat and has something to do with a shrouded secondary pipe within. I'd get it checked theres no fault codes for yours.

Thanks, I'll do that.

I have the exact same thing happening with my Velar as we speak. It started happening off and on about 6 weeks ago. Now the fan runs most of the time. It sounds like a jet engine. It's pretty embarrassing. I bow my head in shame at red lights while my fancy new car sets off car alarms and breaks local noise ordinance codes. I called the dealer yesterday and they are dropping off a loaner and picking up the car for service next week. Going to have my non working rear door handle lock fixed as well.

Just received my Velar back after 10 days at the shop. They fixed the cooling fan issue. They had to replace the water pump, as Maltise stated above. The dealer did say they have been seeing this same issue across both brands during the last few months. But this was the first Velar that came in with the cooling fan problem. He believes there must have been a bad batch of sensors that made it into the production line.

It's like I may seen 5 or 10 of these before. Currently Jaguar water pumps are on back order, but the Land Rover water pumps are the same just a heads up.

I had the same problem in June/July. The car was repaired but first of all the dealer thought it was thermostat gone wrong, then they had to change the water pump and all is well now. They told me there were none in the country (2nd week July) and they got one from another dealer.
The car had only done 3000 miles and water pump gone!!😡

I think it is only a problem of P250/P300 versions ...

my P250 often just turn it off and the fan starts ... for about 1/2 minutes ... so it's normal?
Mine had the problem and is indeed Petrol P300 but the issue was the fan comes on at anytime and stays on. The sound is very, very load.
I think the fan coming on after shutdown for a short period is normal

My 2019 P250 SE started this a couple weeks ago. It's not hot enough for it to go non-stop but it starts after a few minutes of driving and sounds full-blast. It seems START/STOP causes it to go quiet when stopped at a light, but starts right back again as soon as I let off the brake. Unfortunately, I'm on an island (Maui) and there is no dealer here for warranty or any other kind of service and I would have to ship it by regularly scheduled barge to Honolulu to have any work done on it. I'm at about 8000 miles and have not had service on it yet since received new. I'm planning on taking it to a local BOSCH Service Center for it's 10k service but that's a couple months away. The temperature gage does not go past the middle mark so it's not getting too hot. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Taking mine in for this in 2 weeks. Will keep you updated on whether it matters/can be left or if it could cause damage.

Cooling fan started acting up again this week. Just like last time, it turns on and off at will. I know it has nothing to do with the weather. I live in New England and the fan turned on last Monday when it was 22° and again yesterday when the temp was 70°. This problem was supposedly fixed 5 months ago when the dealer replaced the water pump. The fan worked fine up until last week. Now I have the car scheduled to be serviced in 2 weeks. I will keep the forum posted as to the cause.

Thank you! Drove it around today and it's pretty much non-stop loud fan until auto stop/start kicks in at a light. I spoke with our local BOSCH shop and they can do a diagnostic for about $140. He suggested that a software update that they can do might also resolve issues and would take a couple of hours at $140/hr. Since there's no dealer here, we don't have a lot of options, locally.

Please do. I also had my water pomp replaced. It all works great now , but I'm pretty worried reading that it happened to you for the second time.
